There are several small communities that make up the area known as the Santa Ynez Valley including Ballard, Buellton, Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, and Solvang. There are also two adjoining communities nearby, Lompoc and Los Alamos, with the cities of Santa Maria 30 miles to the north and Santa Barbara 30 miles to the south. To be precise, Santa Ynez is located at 34°36'43" North, 120°5'18" West (34.612080, -120.088262).
